What is a Satellite poker tournament anyways? A satellite poker tourney can be seen as a “parlay” to a bigger event. For example satellite poker tournaments are very common when the main event has a large buy-in that many people can’t afford. The poker rooms buy seats and then hold smaller tournaments where you can parlay your win into a bigger tournament. Many satellites are one level deep meaning if you get in top finisher positions or win the first poker tournament then you go on right to the main event. Started in 2007 the Gala Casino ‘Great British Poker Tour’ is a series of 4 qualifying live poker tournaments scheduled between February and August with a £500+ £50 entry fee. These are located at Gala venues throughout the UK. The grand final in October is held in Bristol, this £2,500 entry tournament is expected to have a very large prize pool.
